NCC Industry is one of the leading infrastructure and materials businesses in the Nordic region, generating annual revenues of approximately SEK 12.6 billion and close to SEK 1 billion in EBIT. Operating across Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, NCC Industry combines Nordic scale with a strong local presence. In February 2026, NCC decided to retain its Industry business area and establish it as a standalone company within the Group.

The role

As Head of Strategy & Business Development, you will be responsible for setting directions and establishing effective ways of working across strategy, business development, growth, and M&A. Your role is not to personally drive every initiative, but to lead, steer and enable the team and wider organisation to identify opportunities, make well-founded strategic decisions and turn priorities into business impact.

A key part of the mandate is leadership. You will lead a team of approximately ten skilled professionals with a broad range of experience, creating clarity, engagement and accountability while enabling individuals to contribute to their full potential. You will coach and challenge the team, set priorities and build a collaborative environment with a strong connection to the business.

You will also work closely with business units, sales, and market leaders across the Nordic markets.

Success will depend on your ability to understand the underlying business, build credibility and relationships, and create buy-in for common priorities while recognising the importance of local market expertise.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and develop the Strategy & Business Development team, creating clear direction, priorities and ways of working.
  • Execute NCC Industry’s strategic agenda together with senior leadership and business units
  • Establish a structured approach to strategy, business development and M&A, including governance, prioritisation and follow-up.
  • Lead and steer the M&A agenda, ensuring a strong pipeline and high-quality evaluation and execution of potential acquisitions and partnerships.
  • Guide and challenge the organisation in identifying and developing new commercial opportunities across existing and adjacent markets.
  • Strengthening collaboration with business unit leaders to ensure strategic initiatives are grounded in market and customer insights.
  • Translate strategic priorities into actionable initiatives with clear ownership and measurable outcomes.
  • Act as a trusted strategic partner to senior leadership and provide perspectives and recommendations on key strategic and commercial decisions.

We are looking for an experienced business leader with the ability to set direction, create structure and deliver results through others. You are a confident and engaging leader who builds trust, provides clarity and enables team members to perform at their best.

You combine strategic perspective with strong commercial understanding and a pragmatic approach to execution. To succeed, you need to understand the business, build credibility across the organisation and create buy-in among senior stakeholders and local market leaders. You are comfortable challenging constructively, navigating different perspectives and building strong relationships across functions and geographies.

Experience & Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to lead, motivate and develop teams of experienced professionals
  • Solid experience in business development, growth, and strategy, gained from a senior in-house role and/or management or strategy consulting.
  • Track record of turning strategy into action and measurable business impact.
  • Experience from M&A and corporate development is meriting
  • Experience establishing structures, governance and ways of working within strategy, business development and/or M&A.
  • Strong commercial and financial understanding, with the ability to assess markets, business opportunities and investments.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and experience working with senior management, business leaders and external advisors.
  • Experience from a complex, decentralised and preferably asset-intensive organisation is advantageous.
  • Relevant academic degree in business, finance, engineering or equivalent.
  • Professional proficiency in Swedish and English.

The opportunity

This is an opportunity to step into a newly established position with significant scope to influence both the agenda and how the function operates. You will inherit an experienced team while having the mandate to develop its direction, structure and ways of working.

At a defining stage in NCC Industry’s development, you will have the opportunity to build a Strategy & Business Development function that brings together strategy, commercial development and M&A – and ensures that these capabilities translate into tangible value across the business units.
