The role and key responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to lead a category management team for indirect and investments including the fleet and Machinery operation across the Nordic region, with a strong focus on establishing and developing a new way of working within purchasing categories. This includes driving the alignment between purchasing and the business, ensuring that category management delivers clear value and measurable improvements, while implementing innovative processes that reflect the company’s strategic goals.

In this role, you will be part of the leadership team of Category Management and work from a group perspective with emphasis on strong collaboration with NCC’s six business areas and NCC supporting functions.

Areas of responsibilities include:

  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of Category- and Agreement Managers including an operative Fleet and Machinery team fostering a collaborative and positive working environment, while supporting their professional growth. 
  • Establish and Develop New Ways of Working: Implement and develop a new approach to category management that strengthens the connection with the business, ensuring purchasing strategies are closely aligned with project needs and local market conditions. 
  • Strategy Execution: Develop, implement, and manage category strategies based on thorough and data-driven market analysis. Ensure these strategies meet business needs and are responsive to evolving market conditions. 
  • Supplier Development: Drive supplier performance and development initiatives to ensure a reliable and innovative supplier base. 
  • Business Improvement Projects: Identify and lead sourcing opportunities and other business improvement projects that drive cost efficiency and strategic value. 
  • Budget Management: Responsible for budgeting for the team, ensuring resources are effectively allocated.

 

Main Assignments:

  • Category Management Leadership: Play an active role in the Category Management leadership team, contributing to overall strategic decisions and leadership direction. 
  • Results-Oriented Approach: Set clear financial targets and deliver results by working closely with the Category Management team, internal stakeholders, and suppliers. 
  • Cross Border Coordination: Facilitate and coordinate category strategy implementation across Nordic borders, ensuring consistency and alignment with overall business goals. 
  • Collaboration, Communication & Best Practices: Collaborate with internal stakeholders and cross-regional teams to share insights, foster open communication, and develop best-in-class practices for category management. Ensure continuous improvement and alignment with industry standards while maintaining clear, transparent communication across all levels.
  • Fact-Based Negotiation: Secure the teams run supplier negotiations grounded in data and market analysis, leveraging facts to secure favorable terms while maintaining strong supplier relationships. 
  • Performance Tracking: Regularly monitor and report on category performance, adjusting as needed to meet or exceed targets. 
  •  Secure Compliance and Operational efficiency for all Indirect & Investments categories.

 

About Purchasing at NCC

NCC Purchasing is a network of professionals across the Nordics. We handle everything from project purchasing and supplier base development to strategic sourcing and category management. Your experience and background

We are looking for a leader with great experience from Procurement and Category Management from large organizations with a proactive, result-oriented and structured approach to work. We believe you have a strong collaborative mindset with focus on building relations across functions. We also see that you have strong analytical skills and a proven track record of setting successful procurement and category strategies as well as leading through others in an efficient manner.

 

It is furthermore important that you embrace self-leadership and have an exceptional drive and ‘get it done’ mentality and don’t hesitate to try different approaches to find your way forward. Communicating complexity in a crisp and clear way comes natural to you, and we believe you have a great ability to quickly “connect the dots” and connect independent issues to the bigger picture. 

 

Requirements specification:

  • 10+ years experience from Procurement and Category Management in large organizations
  • Proven track record as a leader within Procurement in a large organization
  • Great business acumen
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Experience from having budget responsibility
  • A natural in navigating in a large organization, building professional relations across functions
  • Great analytical skills combined with a strong result-oriented mindset
  • Proactive communication skills
  • Fluent in both writing in Swedish & English
