Time to lower the thermostat

Time to lower the thermostat

It’s high time to reduce temperatures. Literally. Since NCC participates in the creation of environments for the future, we have a major responsibility.

It’s high time to reduce temperatures. Literally. Since NCC participates in the creation of environments for the future, we have a major responsibility.

The construction industry’s impact and its ability to affect society and the environment are significant over both a short- and long-term perspective. The long-term environmental impact is in part a consequence of the long lifetime of buildings and civil engineering works. An energyefficient building has positive effects on the environment for many generations to come.

For NCC, the goal is to be the leading construction company with respect to responsible enterprise.

NCC Property Development is one of the first GreenBuilding Partners in the Nordic region. This means that we undertake to produce properties with at least 25-percent lower energy consumption than similar conventional buildings. Our first GreenBuilding projects are the office buildings Kaggen in Malmö and Västerport in Stockholm.

GreenBuilding is a completely new system that was launched in 2004 by the European Commission for the labeling of energy-efficient consumption in buildings. The program urges owners of non-residential buildings, on a voluntary basis, to enhance the energy efficiency of their buildings in one or more technical disciplines.

One of the goals of GreenBuilding is to lower the discharge of carbon dioxide – an issue that NCC also addresses on a broader scale, and more specifically in the
housing area.
