4 years after the building start and 362 years after the Vasa Ship sank, the Vasa Museum was inaugurated on the 15th of June 1990.
The museum was designed by Månsson Dahlbäck Arkitektkontor and built by NCC.
Vasa sank in the year 1628. The wreck was salvaged in 1961 and is now once again a complete ship. Surrounding the ship are several permanent exhibitions, cinemas, a shop and a restaurant.
The Vasa Museum is today Scandinavia's most visited museum.
